Democrats Call For Jared Kushner To Lose Security Clearance
The Democratic National Committee is calling for Jared Kushner’s security clearance to be suspended while he is under FBI investigation in the Trump-Russia scandal.
“The FBI’s Russia investigation reached Trump’s backyard, and now it’s in his house,” DNC deputy communications director Adrienne Watson said in a statement Thursday. “Kushner’s security clearance should be suspended until the FBI’s findings are complete.”
Earlier in the day, NBC News and the Washington Post reported that Kushner has come “under scrutiny” in the FBI’s investigation of collusion between Russia and Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.
As part of the Washington Post report on Thursday, the paper noted that investigators are examining Kushner’s meetings with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak and a Russian banking executive late last year. And Thursday a week after multiple news reports that the FBI’s investigation has increasingly focused on financial transactions of Trump associates.
It was previously revealed that Kushner failed to report his meetings with Russian officials in his security clearance forms.
