LIVE ELECTION RESULTS: Montana Congressional Race
The polls have closed and ballots are being counted in the Montana congressional race.
Greg Gianforte is the Republican and Rob Quist is the Democrat in the Montana special election for the state’s at-large House seat.
The already hotly contested race drew even more national focus just the day before the election when the Republican candidate assaulted a reporter who asked him a question about health care.
Both Democrats and Republicans are anxiously watching for the results in Montana as the special election race has become something of a bellwether for national political trends in the Trump era.
Trump won the state by over 20 points but recent polls put the race in single digits with the Republican in a slight lead. Democrats have also won the state in races for Senate and Governor.
The first results are expected around 10:25 p.m. Eastern. The winner may not be known for several hours.
Bad news about Montana: The count could take a while.
