Senate Intel Demands Trump Turn Over All Campaign Documents
The Senate Intelligence Committee, which is investigating the Trump-Russia scandal, has demanded that Donald Trump hand over all campaign documents and campaign communications to the committee.
The document request was first reported by the Washington Post, which notes that the committee sent a letter to the Trump campaign last week asking “Trump’s political organization to gather and produce all documents, emails and phone records going back to his campaign’s launch in June 2015.”
“The letter was signed by Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), the Senate committee’s chairman, and Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-Va.), the committee’s ranking Democrat,” The Washington Post notes.
The report adds, “Dozens of former staffers are expected to be contacted in the coming days to make sure they are aware of the request.”
The news that the Senate Intel Committee has demanded the Trump campaign hand over all campaign documents and communications comes just one day after the Senate Intelligence Committee voted to give the heads of the committee full subpoena power.
As the Washington Post notes, this represents the first time the Trump campaign infrastructure has been pulled into the Senate investigation.
