Texas Governor Jokes About Shooting Reporters
The Republican Assault On Freedom Of The Press Just Took Another Ugly Turn.
Texas Governor Greg Abbot is coming under fire after he made a joke about shooting reporters.
The comment came during a bill signing that reduce handgun license fees on Friday. After shooting some shots at an indoor shooting range, Abbot helpd up his target sheet and said, “I’m gonna carry this around in case I see any reporters,” according to the Texas Tribune.

The Texas Governor’s joke comes just 48 hours after Montana Republican Greg Gianforte assaulted a reporter by slamming him to the ground and breaking his glasses after being asked a question about health care.
The shocking joke is just the latest in a long series of Republican attempts to erode freedom of the press and undermine the legitimacy of the news media.
