Two Men Investigating Ivanka Trump Factory Have Gone Missing, One Other Arrested

According to a new report by the Associated Press, a man investigating a Chinese factory that produces Ivanka Trump’s branded merchandise was arrested, while two others have been declared missing.

Hua Haifeng, the man who was arrested, was looking into working conditions in the factory his wife said.

And two other men have been declared missing after Li Qiang, the executive director of China Labor Watch, said he lost contact with them.

“They must be held either by the factory or the police to be unreachable,” he said.

China Labor Watch is a New York-based non-profit that was investigating possible workplace abuses at the factory. The group is planning to publish a report on low pay and excessive overtime use by the Chinese company that Ivanka Trump uses for her clothing line.

Heng had been working undercover at the factory since April, China Labor Watch Director Li Qiang said. The parent company is known as Huajian Group.

The three men were investigating Ganzhou Huajian International Shoe City Co.’s factory.

The Huajian Group told AP that it makes 10,000 to 20,000 pairs of shoes for Ivanka Trump’s brand each year.

According to the report, the three men had already documented excessive overtime and a below minimum wage base salary at the Chinese company.
