Update:

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that James Comey will tell the Senate Intelligence Committee that Donald Trump asked him to back off the Flynn investigation.

According to the Wall Street Journal, “Comey will say President Trump asked him to back off Flynn probe. Testimony likely to echo Comey’s memo after meeting with Trump.”

James Comey To Testify Publicly About Trump Interactions

It’s official folks, former FBI Director will testify publically in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee as early as next week.

According to a new report by CNN, Comey will address the bombshell accusations about his interactions with Donald Trump including confirmation of whether Trump asked him to end his investigation of Flynn.

The exact details of the Senate hearing are still being finalized.

Comey had wanted to wait until after he had a chance to speak with Special Counsel Rober Mueller to work out the details he can share publically about the case.

According to CNN, “When he testifies, Comey is unlikely to be willing to discuss in any detail the FBI’s investigation into the charges of possible collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign — the centerpiece of the probe, this source said. But he appears eager to discuss his tense interactions with Trump before his firing, which have now spurred allegations that the president may have tried to obstruct the investigation.”

“If it happens, Comey’s public testimony promises to be a dramatic chapter in the months-long controversy, and it will likely bring even more intense scrutiny to an investigation that Trump has repeatedly denounced as a ‘witch hunt,'” the CNN report continued.

Comey was abruptly fired by Donald Trump earlier this month. Trump later admitted during an interview on NBC that he fired Comey over the Russia investigation.
