Obamacare Repeal Is Hurting Republicans Politically: Poll

Support for Obamacare continues to be strong.

Republicans have a political disaster on their hands, a new poll finds. Multiple recent polls have found extremely low support for the Republican health bill.

And according to a new poll by the Kaiser Family Foundation, just 8 percent of people think the Senate should pass the Republican health care bill.

The poll also found that a majority of American have an unfavorable view of the Republican health bill with 55 percent having an unfavorable opinion and just 31 percent having a favorable one.

And the limited favorability the GOP plan has, it’s coming from the Republican base with Democrats and independents being largely unfavorable.

The poll also found that 76 percent of respondents said that the bill does not fulfill Donald Trump’s promises on health care.

Obamacare is much more popular than Trumpcare

The Kaiser poll also found that Obamacare is far more popular than the Republican alternative. According to the poll, 49 percent of Americans have a favorable view of Obamacare while just 31 percent support the Republican bill.

The poll also found that two-thirds of respondents, including half of Republicans, say that President Trump and Republicans are responsible for any current and future problems with Obamacare.

About the poll: The Kaiser Health Tracking Poll was conducted May 16-22, 2017, among a nationally representative random digit dial telephone sample of 1,205 adults ages 18 and older, living in the United States. The margin of sampling error including the design effect for the full sample is plus or minus 3 percentage points.
