Support For Impeachment Is Growing

The number of Americans who support Congress pursuing impeachment proceedings against Donald Trump is growing, and somewhat rapidly, according to a new poll.

In the new Politico/Morning Consult Poll, support for impeaching Trump grew from 38 percent last week to 43 percent.

Support for Donald Trump to be impeached has grown 5 points in just a week.

And while 43 percent favor impeachment, just 45 percent of those surveyed say they don’t support impeachment.

Only three American presidents have faced impeachment threats/proceedings.

That the nation is essentially evenly split over whether the President of the United States should be impeached just 130 some days into his presidency, is a stunning statement about the Trump presidency.

According to Politico, “Of those who want Congress to move toward impeachment, a 54-percent majority of those believe Trump ‘has proven he is unfit to serve and should be removed from office, regardless of whether he committed an impeachable offense or not.’ Only 43 percent of those seeking impeachment believe Trump has committed an offense that meets the high constitutional standards for removal.”

About the poll: The POLITICO/Morning Consult poll included interviews with 1,991 registered voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
