Why Did Russian Banker Fly To Japan After Kushner Meeting?
After meeting with Jared Kushner in New York, the head of a Russian state-run bank Sergey Gorkov, flew to Japan. Why did he do that? Well, we may now be able to answer that question.
A new report by the Washington Post details how the explanations for Jared Kushner’s meeting with the head of Russian state-run bank clearly don’t match up.
While the White House says that Kushner met with Sergey Gorkov, the chief executive at Vnesheconombank, as one of his many diplomatic meetings he participated in during the transition.
Russian bank’s explanation totally contradicts the White House explanation. According to Vnesheconombank, Kushner and Gorkov met as part of his role as the head of his family’s real estate business to discuss new business strategy.
Hmm…
This is not the first time someone has pointed out that the two stories don’t match up, however, the Washington Post adds significant detail to the story.
The FBI, as well as at least four congressional committees, are investigating whether the Trump team coordinated with the Russians to interfere in the election. And new reporting has confirmed that the investigations are now focused on the financial connections between Trump’s team and Russia. Which is why the meeting between Trump’s son-in-law and the Russian banker hand-picked by Vladimir Putin is so interesting to investigators.
Sergey Gorkov, prior to his time as head of Russia’s Vnesheconombank, completed training at a Russian SPY “finishing school.” And he and his bank are known to actively help Putin with his important political problems – including bailing out the Winter Olympics.
According to the Washington Post, flight data indicates that the Kushner-Gorkov meeting took place on December 13 or 14 which was two weeks after Kushner’s meeting with Kislyak. “Gorkov’s plane flew from Moscow to the United States on Dec. 13.”
Okay so that all makes sense, Gorkov was meeting with Jared Kushner so he flew from Russia to the United States.
But here is the thing, Gorkov didn’t fly back to Russia after the meeting with Jared Kushner. But why?
According to the Washington Post, “After leaving Newark on Dec. 14, the jet headed to Japan, where Putin was visiting on Dec. 15 and 16. The news media had reported that Gorkov would join the Russian president there.”
Bingo!
Now we know why Gorkov flew to Japan after meeting with Jared Kushner – to immediately report back to his boss Vladimir Putin.
So the White House says they discussed affairs of the state. And the Russian bank says they talked business. Maybe they are both telling the truth?
If Russia intended to funnel money into Trump and Kushner businesses in exchange for sanctions relief, Sergey Gorkov and his Vnesheconombank would likely be how they do it.
