Deutsche Bank Refusing Democrats’ Requests For Info On Trump Loans
Donald Trump’s Biggest Lender Is Refusing To Say Whether Trump’s Loans Are Connected To Russia.
According to a new report, Germany’s largest bank – and Donald Trump’s biggest lender – is refusing to respond to Democrats’ questions about Russia connections.
The story was first reported by Reuters Sunday. Several congressional Democrats on the House Financial Services Committee have asked the bank to verify whether Trump’s loans are connected with Russia.
“Germany’s largest bank has failed to respond to a request from Democrats on a U.S. House of Representatives panel for details about U.S. President Donald Trump’s possible ties to Russia,” Reuters noted in their report.
The members of the panel sent a letter to Deutsche Bank’s CEO John Cryan in May, requesting information that could show whether loans for Trump’s real estate business were connected to Russia.
“Congress remains in the dark on whether loans Deutsche Bank made to President Trump were guaranteed by the Russian government, or were in any way connected to Russia,” the Democrats said in their letter to Deutsche Bank.
“It is critical that you provide this committee with the information necessary to assess the scope, findings and conclusions of your internal reviews.”
The congressional committee members had given the German bank until last Friday to respond but according to the Reuters report, they have not received a “substantive” response.
No Republican members of the committee have signed on to the Democrats request. With Republican support, the committee could issue a subpoena to the German bank demanding the documents.
Democrats want to know whether there are any connections between Trump accounts and the “mirror trading” scandal that Deutsche Bank.
