Trump Can’t Be Counted On To Give Accurate Information To Americans When Violent Acts Are Unfolding: AP
Trump’s Lying Has Gotten So Bad That News Organizations Are Telling Americans To Ignore Him.
The Associated Press went to the extraordinary step of telling Americans that the sitting U.S. President cannot be counted on to give accurate information.
The AP opened their story saying, “President Donald Trump can’t be counted on to give accurate information to Americans when violent acts are unfolding abroad.”
It’s an exceptionally bold statement for the nonpartisan news organization that does everything it can to avoid political commentary. It is also a testament to how dishonest Donald Trump’s statements and tweets have been.
The Associated Press also made clear that Trump purposely mischaracterized the statements of London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan.
“A look at the fuller context of remarks by London Mayor Sadiq Khan to the BBC on Sunday shows that he was telling Londoners there was “no need to be alarmed” at the heavier police presence they will see in the days ahead. He was not playing down the danger. “The threat level remains at severe,” the mayor said. “Severe means an attack across the country is still highly likely.” the AP noted.
The AP report also called out Trump for claiming that a violent incident in the Philippines where a gunman killed 37 people was a terrorist attack. As the Associated Press notes, “Philippine authorities said the attack that killed 37 people at a casino-hotel complex was by a lone gunman who set fire to gambling tables and fled with casino chips. They said the motive was robbery, not terrorism.”
