CNN Legal Analyst: Comey Testimony Establishes Trump Obstructed Justice
After James Comey’s Senate testimony was released, CNN’s senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin said that former FBI Director James Comey’s remarks to Congress establish that President Trump obstructed justice.
“Comey’s statement establishes obstruction of justice by Trump. Period,” Toobin tweeted just minutes after the remarks were released.

Toobin also made the remarks during an appearance on CNN saying, “If this isn’t obstruction of justice, I don’t know what is.”
“There is a criminal investigation going on of one of the President’s top associates, his former national security adviser, one of the most — handful of most important people in the government. He gets fired. He’s under criminal investigation and the President brings in the FBI director and says, please stop your investigation,” Toobin said on CNN. “If that isn’t obstruction of justice, I don’t know what is.”

Comey’s opening statement was released Wednesday just a day before of his testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee. The testimony will be Comey’s first public appearance since Trump fired him.
The former FBI director will confirm reports that Donald Trump pressed him to “let go” of the bureau’s investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
Comey’s statement says Trump pressed him to “lift the cloud” of the FBI’s investigation into Russian election interference and said to him: “I need loyalty. I expect loyalty.”
