Trump Advisers Trying To Convince Him Not To Fire Sessions: Report

Trump aides pleading with Trump not to fire Jeff Sessions.

A new report reveals that Donald Trump’s associates are pressuring him not to fire Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

It was reported Tuesday that Sessions had offered Trump his resignation amid rising tensions between the two men.

But according to Reutters, Trump’s aides are warning him not to fire the country’s top law enforcement official and his longest standing political allies.

“Political and legal advisers inside the White House have told Trump over the past month that firing Sessions would create another political fire storm and make it more difficult to fill key jobs inside his administration, the sources said on the condition of anonymity,” Reuters notes.

However, one source noted that Trump does not always stick to the advice of his aides and associates.

“That’s the advice he’s been given. But he might not listen to that advice,” the source told Reuters.

Trump blames Sessions’s decision to recuse himself from the Russia investigation for the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

According to Reuters, “After learning the news, Trump lashed out at Sessions, blaming him for recusing himself from the Russia probe and leaving the ability to appoint an outside investigator in Rosenstein’s hands, the sources said.”

“Trump also complained that Sessions had not warned him about Rosenstein’s decision. The Justice Department said Sessions played no part in the decision,” the Reuters report continued.

Sessions was forced to recuse himself after it was revealed that he lied under oath to the Senate during his confirmation hearing about meeting with the Russian ambassador.
