CNN’s senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin reasserted his earlier statement that Donald Trump obstructed justice by pressuring James Comey to drop the investigation into Michael Flynn.
“I think it’s even clearer this is an obstruction of justice,” Toobin told CNN’s “New Day” Friday morning.
“When you look particularly at that February 14 meeting in the Oval Office, where he shoos everyone out of the Oval Office, which is what prosecutors call consciousness of guilt, and then asked the FBI director to drop the investigation of Michael Flynn, that to me is just a classic obstruction of justice in the mold of Watergate,” he said.
“And if you have any doubt about that, when Comey declines to drop the investigation, what happens? He gets fired because of that,” Toobin continued.
On Wednesday after reading Comey’s testimony Toobin tweeted that Comey’s statement “establishes obstruction of justice by Trump. Period.”
