Trump’s Personal Lawyer Played Central Role In Firing Of Preet Bharara
Donald Trump’s personal lawyer helped convince Trump to fire U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, according to a new report by ProPublica.
Trump’s lawyer Marc Kasowitz, who is currently defending Trump in the Russia investigation, bragged to friends about his role in the firing of Bharara.
ProPublica quotes a person close to the matter saying that Kasowitz told Trump, “This guy is going to get you.”
Trump abruptly fired Bharara after initially asking him to stay on as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
ProPublica reported that at the time of his firing “the Southern District was conducting an investigation into Trump’s secretary of the health and human services, Tom Price.”
And according to the report, Kasowitz has told friends that Trump had originally asked him to be Attorney General.
The Southern District of New York is also handling the investigation into Russian money laundering through German financial giant Deutsche Bank.
Deutsche Bank is also Donald Trump’s largest lender, leading many to speculate that Russian money is connected to the Trump loan.
