This Is What We Know So Far About The Shooting At Congressional Baseball Practice
Update: the gunman has been identified as James T. Hodgkinson. He has died.

A gunman started firing shots during a congressional baseball practice Wednesday morning.
The shooting took place in Alexandria Virgina, a Washington DC suburb.
House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was shot and is in stable condition. His injuries are not life-threatening.
Several others were injured during the shooting, including Capitol police officers who were at the scene to provide security for Congressman Scalise.
The shooter had a rifle with a scope. The gunman was shot by police and is in custody.
Senator Rand Paul who was at the baseball practice said as many as 50 shots and described what he believed was the shooter reloading.
Democrats who were practicing at the same time at different baseball field prayed for their friends when they heard the news.

The office of Congressman Scalise released a statement with an update on his condition.

Former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords expressed her sadness via Twitter saying, “My heart is with my former colleagues, their families & staff, and the US Capitol Police- public servants and heroes today and every day.”
