NSA Official Wrote Memo Detailing Trump’s Request To Intervene In FBI Investigation
James Comey Wasn’t The Only Official Writing Memos About Trump’s Obstruction.
We learned Wednesday that Donald Trump is officially under criminal investigation by Special Counsel Mueller for obstruction of justice.
And now a follow-up report by the Wall Street Journal reveals even more troubling details.
According to the report, the former Deputy Director of the NSA Rick Ledgett wrote an internal memo about an encounter between Donald Trump and NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers.
Donald Trump pressed Rogers to publically push back against news reports about the Russia investigation.
But it doesn’t end there. According to the memo, Donald Trump also questioned the findings of America’s intelligence community that Russia interfered in the 2016 election.
According to the Wall Street Journal report, Special Counsel Robert Mueller plans to interview Ledgett as part of his investigation into Trump’s obstruction of justice.
“While Mr. Ledgett was still in office, he wrote a memo documenting a phone call that Mr. Rogers had with Mr. Trump, according to people familiar with the matter. During the call, the president questioned the veracity of the intelligence community’s judgment that Russia had interfered with the election and tried to persuade Mr. Rogers to say there was no evidence of collusion between his campaign and Russian officials, they said,” the Wall Street Journal noted.
The report of another internal, contemporaneous memo detailing actions taken by Donald Trump to impede the federal investigation adds to the already mounting evidence of obstruction of justice and abuse of power by Trump.
