Republican Who Assaulted Reporter To Be Sworn In Next Week
Greg Gianforte, the Republican from Montana who was sentenced four days ago for assaulting report Ben Jacobs, will be sworn into Congress on Wednesday.
Gianforte pled guilty to assaulting Jacobs the day before the Montana special election on May 25.
As part of his sentence, Gianforte will complete 40 hours of community service as well as 20 hours of anger management counseling.
In addition, Gianforte issued an apology to Jacobs and agreed to donate $50,000 to the Committee to Protect Journalists.
Gianforte’s assault on Jacobs came after he was asked a question about the Republican health care bill.
