Republican Governors Blast GOP Health Care Plan
Three Republican governors signed on to a letter to Senate leadership on Friday criticizing the proposed Republican Obamacare repeal bill.
The governors were particularly unhappy with the proposed cuts to Medicaid.
Instead, the governors are urging Senate Republicans to work to stabilize the private insurance market.
“It calls into question coverage for the vulnerable and fails to provide the necessary resources to ensure that no one is left out, while shifting significant costs to the states,” the letter said.
The House bill’s included deep cuts to Medicaid which accounts for roughly half the loss in people insured.
The letter was signed Ohio Governor John Kasich, Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker and four Democrats Steve Bullock of Montana, John Hickenlooper of Colorado, John Bel Edwards of Louisiana, Tom Wolf of Pennsivenia.
During a meeting this week with Senate Republicans, Donald Trump called the House GOP bill “mean.”
