House Intel Committee Wants To Question Trump’s Digital Director
Investigators Are Closing In On Connection Between Trump’s Digital Operation And Russia.
Investigators in the House Russia probe want to talk the digital director for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
CNN was first to report that “House Russia investigators are planning to call on Brad Parscale, the digital director of President Donald Trump’s campaign.”
House investigators are looking into whether the Trump campaign or other Trump associates coordinated with the Russians in their efforts to impact the election.
According to the CNN report, House investigators plan to send an invite to Parscale soon.
The Senate Intelligence Committee is also investigating how Russia was able to target specific districts in key swing states.
The news that investigators are looking into Trump’s digital operation comes at the same time that federal investigators are ramping up their investigation into Jared Kushner, including his financial ties.
Kushner was also in charge of overseeing the Trump campaign’s data operation.
According to CNN, “Parscale played a critical role behind the scenes on the Trump campaign, directing online spending and voter targeting with the use of a highly sophisticated data bank built by the Republican National Committee. Parscale, was running the Trump Organization’s digital operation in early 2015, when he was hired onto the Trump campaign — months before Trump officially announced his bid.”
Observers have asked questions about how the Russians were able to so sophisticatedly target their election interference operation.
On the Senate side, investigators are questioning whether there is a link between Russian promoted fake news that favored Trump in the key swing states in the Rust Belt that helped Trump win the election.
Senator Mark Warner said during a committee hearing, “There have been reports that their ability to target this information, some reports at least saying that in the last week of the campaign in certain precincts in Wisconsin and Michigan and Pennsylvania there was so much misinformation coming talking about Hillary Clinton’s illnesses or Hillary Clinton stealing money from the State Department or other. It completely blanked out any of the back and forth that was actually going on in the campaign.”
Warner continued by saying, “One of the things that seems curious is would the Russians on their own have that level of sophisticated knowledge about the American political system, if they didn’t at least get some advice from someone in America?”
