During a series of appearances on the Sunday morning shows, Donald Trump’s lawyer Jay Sekulow seemed to have trouble getting his story straight.
Sekulow tried to claim that Donald Trump is not under investigation, even after Donald Trump confirmed the investigation via Twitter this week.
However, Sekulow didn’t just have trouble getting his story straight in relation to Donald Trump’s tweets. He also seemed to contradict himself during the course of his interviews.
During a particularly contentious exchange with Fox News’s Chris Wallace, things got pretty heated when Wallace pointed out Sekulow was contradicting himself.
“You’ve now said that he is being investigated,” Wallace said. “You just said, sir, you just said that he’s being investigated.”
“Let me be crystal clear so you completely understand, we have not received, nor are we aware of any investigation of the president of the United States. Period,” Sekulow responded.
“I do not appreciate you putting words in my mouth, when I’ve been crystal clear that the president is not and has not been under investigation,” Sekulow said.
“Well, you don’t know that he’s not under investigation, again sir,” Wallace said.
“You’re right, Chris, I can’t read the mind of the special prosecutor,” Sekulow responded.
“Okay, well good, we’re in agreement,” Wallace replied. “You don’t know whether he’s under investigation or not.”
