New Member Of Special Counsel Team Is Known For Flipping Witnesses

New Report Reveals Why Trump Is So Freaked Out About Special Counsel Mueller’s Investigation.

Speical Counsel Robert Mueller has moved swiftly to build his team of investigators since being appointed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in May.

According to a new report by Reuters, one of Muller’s recent hires has extensive experience at flipping witnesses and getting them to testify against friends, bosses and colleagues.

“Andrew Weissmann, who headed the U.S. Justice Department’s criminal fraud section before joining Mueller’s team last month, is best known for two assignments – the investigation of now-defunct energy company Enron and organized crime cases in Brooklyn, New York – that depended heavily on gaining witness cooperation,” Reuters notes.

Several high-profile members of the Trump team have hired lawyers recently to defend them in the Russia investigation. Last week, Vice President Mike Pence hired a high-profile attorney with extensive experience in political corruption cases. And Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner is reportedly actively looking to expand his legal team in anticipation of what may be a lengthy criminal trial.

According to the Reuters report, “Mueller has several other highly experienced lawyers on his team, including U.S. Deputy Solicitor General Michael Dreeben. Trump has also been building a legal team led by New York lawyer Marc Kasowitz, with veteran Washington defense lawyer John Dowd recently coming aboard.”
