Flynn Received CIA Secrets Despite Concerns Of Russian Blackmail
Michael Flynn was given CIA secrets despite serious concerns among senior officials that he could be vulnerable to blackmail from Russians, according to a new report.
The New York Times on Tuesday reported that officials at the FBI, CIA and the Justice Department considered Flynn to be at risk of being blackmailed. However, Flynn continued to recieve highly classified information.
The New York Times report noted, “At the F.B.I., the C.I.A., the Justice Department and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence — agencies responsible for keeping American secrets safe from foreign spies — career officials agreed that Mr. Flynn represented an urgent problem.”
“Yet nearly every day for three weeks, the new C.I.A. director, Mike Pompeo, sat in the Oval Office and briefed President Trump on the nation’s most sensitive intelligence — with Mr. Flynn listening.”
The Trump administration waited 18 days to fire Flynn and only after Flynn’s lies about discussing sanctions with the Russians were reported by The Washington Post.
A few days after Sally Yates warned the Trump administration about Flynn being compromised she was fired.
