The polls close at 7 pm Eastern in the highly contested Georgia special election between Democrat Jon Ossoff and Republican Karen Handel.
The race drew national attention as Democrats attempt to flip Georgia’s 6th congressional district from Republican to Democrat for the first time in decades. If Democrats are able to flip the district, it could be an early sign of a wave as Democrats attempt to take back the House in 2018.
The seat was left open when Tom Price joined the Trump administration as Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Donald Trump only won the district by 1 point in 2016.
In the primary on April 18, Ossoff came in first place with 48.8 percent – just shy of the 50 percent threshold to win the race outright.
