Americans Want Democrats In Charge Of Congress: Poll
Half the country wants the Democratic Party to control Congress after the 2018 midterm elections, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released Thursday.
The poll found that 50 percent of those polled said they want Democrats to control the legislative branch, while 42 percent said they want the Republican Party to retain control of Congress.
The results come after Democrats lost all special elections in 2017 to Republicans and the party debates how to proceed in the Trump era.
The poll also found that Donald Trump’s approval rating continues to be historically low with just 40 percent approving of the job he is doing.
Donald Trump’s disapproval rating stands at 55 percent.
About the poll: The NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll was conducted from June 17-20, surveying 900 adults. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.27 percentage points.
