Just 12 Percent Support the Senate Republican Health Bill
A new USA Today poll finds support for the Senate Republican bill is barely above double digits.
And just like that, support for the Senate Republican health bill fell through the floor.
According to a new poll, just 12 percent of Americans support the Senate Republicans bill to replace Obamacare.
Even more surprisingly, a whopping 53 percent of Americans say that Congress should either work to improve Obamacare or leave it alone.
Among Republicans, just 26% support the Senate bill.
The USA Today poll follows an NPR/Marrist poll that found support for the Republican bill at 17 percent.
Mitch McConnell was forced to delay the vote on the Obamacare repeal bill after several members of the Republican caucus announced that they would not support the bill.
The Congressional Budget Office found that the Republican plan would cause 22 million people to lose health insurance if it becomes law.
Other key numbers from the USA Today poll:
- 77%, say it is “very important” that the health care system permit people with pre-existing medical conditions to buy health insurance at the same price as others
- 63%, say it is “very important” that lower-income people who became eligible for Medicaid through the Affordable Care Act continued to be covered by Medicaid
- 57%, say it is “very important” that insurance premiums go down in price
- 27percent approve of the job Donald Trump is doing on health care, 61% disapprove
About the poll: The USA Today/Suffolk University survey was taken by landline or cellphone among 1,000 registered voters. The poll’s margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.
