Donald Trump Jr Just Issued A Statement Essentially Admitting to Collusion
The New York Times on Sunday broke the biggest bombshell story so far in the Trump-Russia saga. If you haven’t already, read our coverage of it here.
According to the New York Times report, three members of Donald Trump’s campaign – Donald Trump Jr., Paul Manafort and Jared Kushner – met with a Russian lawyer with deep connections to the Kremlin. And most notably, Donald Trump Jr was told that this Kremlin-linked lawyer could deliver him damaging information about Hillary Clinton.
Let’s pause there.
Donald Trump Jr. was told this Russian lawyer could give him damaging information about Hillary Clinton. And he went to the meeting. Well, folks, that’s what we call trying to collude with the Russians.
But that isn’t the most explosive part of the New York Times story. The biggest bombshell revelation comes from Donald Trump Jr.’s statement about the meeting.
Trump Jr.’s statement is essentially an admission of collusion.
It’s right there in the opening sentence of the statement “I was asked to have a meeting by an acquaintance I knew from the 2013 Miss Universe pageant with an individual who I was told might have information helpful to the campaign.”
BOOM! Sure sounds like collusion.
Quick reminder for those that didn’t catch it, the 2013 Miss Universe pageant is the one held in Moscow – you know the one from the Steele dossier that references the pee pee tapes, among other things. And Christopher Steele, the British spy who compiled the dossier, specifically noted in his report that Russia sent damaging information on Clinton sent to the Trump campaign.
The New York Times report is the first account that people closely associated with the Kremlin offered damaging information on Clinton to the Trump campaign. And that the Trump campaign entertained the offer from the Russians.
It’s also important to note that as of yesterday Donald Trump Jr. was saying the meeting was simply an introductory meeting about the adoption of Russian babies.
And as of yesterday, Donald Trump’s legal team has shifted their public defense strategy to trying to claim that it’s all just some big set up.
The Trump team’s initial strategy of dismissing the Veselnitskaya meeting has clearly switched to claiming it was a set-up by Democrats using Kremlin operatives to sink the Trump campaign.
Who do you believe?
