Tim Kaine: Russia Investigating Now ‘Potentially Treason’ Probe (Video)
Senator Tim Kaine, Hillary Clinton’s 2016 running mate, on Tuesday said the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election is now moving “beyond” obstruction of justice to “even potentially treason.”
The remarks from Kaine came after the news that Donald Trump Jr. met with a Russian lawyer offering damaging information about Hillary Clinton during a meeting in June of 2016.
“The investigation — it’s not, nothing is proven yet, but we’re now beyond obstruction of justice in terms of what’s being investigated,” Kaine told reporters.
“This is moving into perjury, false statements and even potentially treason.”
On Tuesday, Donald Trump Jr. release a series of emails that confirm the Russian government attempted to help his father’s presidential campaign. Trump Jr. released the emails after being approached by the New York Times which was intending to publish the emails.
