Senator Chris Murphy Calls For Kushner To Resign

Senator Chris Murphy, Democrat from Connecticut, on Wednesday called for Jared Kushner from his White House position.

Murphy’s call comes after the revelation that Kushner attended a meeting with a Russian government lawyer who promised to deliver campaign help from the Russian government. Donald Trump Jr. forwarded an email chain to Kushner and Paul Manafort which included the promise of campaign support from the Russian government.

Kushner is a senior adviser to Donald Trump in the White House.

Murphy said Kushner misled Trump and Vice President Pence, causing them to state falsely that there were no associates between their campaign and the Russians.

“You don’t think the Republicans would be calling for the resignation of an Obama official who allowed the president and vice president to openly lie about a major national security issue?” the Connecticut Democrat told reporters.

“He watched his father-in-law on TV say no one in [the Trump] campaign talked to the Russian government.”

“Kushner knew that was false,” Murphy continued. “Either he didn’t alert the president and vice president, or there is a much bigger problem, and the president and vice president knew they were lying. There is a crisis of trust that the White House has to deal with.”

Kushner, Trump Jr. and Manafort all met with the Russian lawyer in June of 2016 at Trump Tower.
