Trump Voter Commission Just Suffered A Legal Setback
Not so fast.
Donald Trump’s voter Commission has notified states it is halting its request for sensitive voter information after several lawsuits were filed to block the request.
On Monday, an official from the commission informed states not to give up the voter information, which includes party registration and partial Social Security numbers, until after a judge makes a decision on a lawsuit that claims the data request violates privacy laws.
The commission, which is led by Vice President Pence, was formed after Trump first lied about widespread voter fraud costing him the popular vote.
Critics say the effort is an attempt at voter suppression and has nothing to do with fraud, which study after study has proven is not an issue.
At least 44 states responded to the Trump commission saying they would not hand over their voter rolls.
And several organizations, including the American Civil Liberties Union, filed lawsuits against the commission.
