Russian Lawyer Handed Trump Jr Folder Of Documents During Meeting: Report
According to a new report by the Associated Press, Donald Trump Jr. received a folder of documents from the Russian lawyer he met with at Trump Tower.
Veselnitskaya brought documents detailing what she believed was the flow of illicit funds to the DNC.
The revelation comes from Rinat Akhmetshin, who it was just reported Friday morning, also attended the meeting.
According to the AP, Akhmetshin thinks Veselnitskaya left the materials with the Trump associates, unclear if she handed over docs or simply left them behind.
“’This could be a good issue to expose how the DNC is accepting bad money,’ Akhmetshin recalled her saying.”
Trump Jr. then asked the Russian lawyer for more details proving the Russian claims, the AP notes.
Akhmetshin has deep ties to Russian intelligence.
The new revelations continue to cast doubt on the Trump administration’s explanations for the meeting. This is the sixth or seventh time that a new revelation has come to light after the Trump team has said they have told the full story.
Trump Jr released a series of emails this week in which a music publicist who arranged the June meeting at Trump Tower said a Russian lawyer wanted to pass on negative information about Hillary Clinton and stated that the discussion was part of a Russian government effort to help Donald Trump’s campaign.
Also of note is that the former Russian intelligence official has told the Associated Press that he is familiar with Paul Manafort because they run in “adjacent political circles.”
