Ethics Watchdog Forces Release Of Mar-a-Lago Visitor Logs
A government watchdog group – Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) – will be releasing visitor logs for Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort.
On Monday, CREW announced that the Department of Homeland Security will turn over visitor logs to Trump’s property by September 8 as part of their ongoing litigation with the watchdog group.
And CREW will make the logs public.
CREW was one of several ethics groups that sued the Trump administration for the release of the visitor logs.
The Obama administration practice was to release their visitor logs in 2009. However, the Trump administration has thus far broken with that practice.
“The public deserves to know who is coming to meet with the president and his staff,” said the executive director of CREW Noah Bookbinder.
“We are glad as a result of this case, this information will become public for meetings at his personal residences — but it needs to be public for meetings at the White House as well.”
