Jake Tapper Takes Down Spicer For Lying About Trump Jr’s Russia Meeting

CNN’s Jake Tapper on Monday slammed Sean Spicer for repeating the false claim that “there was nothing as far as we know that would lead anyone to believe” the meeting between Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort and a Russian lawyer was about anything other than adoption.
Spicer’s statement is a clear contradiction of what Donald Trump has been saying. On Monday Trump tweeted that the meeting between his son and other senior campaign staffers and a Russian lawyer was set up “in order to get info on an opponent.”
Spicer’s comments seemed to be reflective of the administration’s stance a week ago before additional detail about the meeting emerged.
“Yeah, there’s nothing that would lead anybody to believe it was about anything other than adoption,” Tapper said Monday.
“Except for the subject line of the emails, the content of the emails, and every single thing related to setting up that meeting.”
