Special Counsel Instructs Trump White House To Preserve All Documents Related To Trump Jr. Meeting
The walls are closing in.
Special counsel Robert Mueller has instructed the White House to save all documents relating to Donald Trump Jr.’s June 2016 meeting with a Russian lawyer at Trump Tower, according to CNN.
According to the report, the notice asks for the broad preservation of “any subjects discussed in the course of the June 2016 meeting” and also “any decisions made regarding the recent disclosures about the June 2016 meeting.”
That would include any text messages, emails, notes, voicemails, and any other form of communication and documentation regarding the meeting.
The meeting in question was set up by an intermediary in emails promising to give Trump Jr. damaging information from the Russian government about Hillary Clinton. Trump Jr., Paul Manafort and Jared Kushner all attended the meeting which had at least 8 participants.
One of the Russian attendees to the meeting is a former Russian intelligence officer. Another is an American based Russian businessman who was investigated by Congress for a massive money laundering scheme.
The news of Mueller asking the White House to preserve all related documents come as the investigation into Trump’s Russia connections is ramping up dramatically. It was reported this week that Mueller is looking into Trump’s personal finances as part of the investigation.
