Lindsey Graham Writing Bill To Prevent Trump From Firing Special Counsel Mueller

Republicans finally standing up to Trump.

Senator Lindsey Graham announced Thursday that he is writing a bill that will limit Donald Trump’s power to fire Special Counsel Mueller.

Mueller is investigating the Russian election attack and the Trump campaigns coordination with the Russian effort as well as obstruction of justice by Donald Trump.

Graham said his bill, which he will be introducing next week, will block a president from firing the special counsel without a federal judge’s approval if that counsel is investigating the president or his administration, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

Graham also said he was crafting the legislation because “we need a check and balance here” and that the bill will apply to Trump as well as all future presidents.

Donald Trump has been attempting to undermine the special counsel’s investigation and in the last few days has publically acknowledged his desire to replace Jeff Sessions with an Attorney General that would not be recused from the Russia investigation.

Early in the day on Thursday, Graham said that if Trump fired Special Counsel Mueller without cause it would be the “end of his presidency.”
