Email Prankster Tricked Scaramucci And Other Officials With Fake Emails
Just when you thought things couldn’t get worse for the Trump White House.
Several top White House officials, including now-fired communications director Anthony Scaramucci, were tricked by email pranksters who posed as other members of the administration.
The report from CNN reveals that the top Trump officials not only opened emails from the bogus accounts but also responded to them.
Scaramucci reportedly had an email argument with someone posing to be Reince Priebus.
According to CNN, the same prankster also posed as Jon Huntsman, Trump’s nominee for ambassador to Russia, and asked Scaramucci whose “head should roll first?”
Scaramucci responded saying “Both of them.” Scaramucci was apparently referring to both Priebus and chief strategist Steve Bannon.
During one exchange between Scaramucci and the fake Reince Priebus included the public feud between the men.
“I can’t believe you are questioning my ethics!” Fake Priebus wrote to Scaramucci.
“The so called ‘Mooch’, who can’t even manage his first week in the White House without leaving upset in his wake. I have nothing to apologize for.”
“Read Shakespeare. Particularly Othello,” Scaramucci responded. “You are right there. My family is fine by the way and will thrive. I know what you did. No more replies from me.”
And the prankster also fooled Huntsman and Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert.
However, Eric Trump apparently caught on to the prank and replied that he had referred the matter to law enforcement.
The prankster told CNN that they were not attempting to phish the White House.
“I try and keep it on the humorous side of things,” the person told CNN.
“I’m not trying to get the keys to the vault or anything like that.”
