New Poll Has Good News For Democrats In 2018 Race To Take Back Congress

Democrats have 7 points lead in generic congressional ballot in a new poll.

According to a new poll, Democrats lead Republicans on a generic congressional ballot by 7 points.

The Politico/Morning Consult poll found that 44 percent of registered voters select a Democratic candidate on a generic congressional ballot while 37 percent selected a Republican.

Another 19 percent of voters say they are still undecided.

Democrats have more intensity than Republicans

The poll also found that Democrats are more excited to vote for their own party than Republicans are with 90 percent of Democrats saying they supported the Democratic candidate and 85 percent of Republicans saying they support the Republican candidate.

Independents also favor the Democrat over the Republican by a 34 to 25 margin. However, 41 percent of independent voters say they are still undecided.

The poll comes as Democrats aim to take back the House in 2018.

About the poll: The Politico/Morning Consult poll was conducted from July 27 to 30 among 1,972 registered voters. Its margin of error is 2 percent.
