After 6 Months Of Failure, Trump Is Taking A Much Needed Vacation
Exhausted from all the winning he didn’t do for the first six months of his presidency, Donald Trump is taking some much needed time off.
According to the Associated Press, Trump will begin a 17-day August vacation at his private golf club in New Jersey on Friday.
It’s not unusual for presidents to take vacations. In fact, presidents typically take their vacations in August when Congress is also on recess. But what is unusual about Donald Trump is the combination of how little he has accomplished as president so far and how much he boasted that he would never take time off if he became president.
Trump famously attacked President Obama for taking vacations and occasional golfing. And in true Trump fashion, he has lived up to none of his promises.
Trump has repeatedly suggested that he doesn’t even take vacations. He once told Larry King, “most of the people I know that are successful really don’t take vacations. Their business is their vacation. I rarely leave. You know that,” Trump said. “You and I are friends. How often do you see me going away?”
But of course, in reality, Donald Trump has spent nearly a third of his presidency at one of his resorts or golf courses.
Donald Trump has also repeatedly called on Congress to not go on recess in August and instead stay in Washington to keep working on his Obamacare repeal bill.
The answer from Congress was to not pass Trump’s Obamacare then promptly leave town.
Despite being scheduled to be in Washington through the end of next week, the Senate has already left town for August recess.
