Pro-Trump Billionaire Donates $300,000 To Unseat Republican Senator Who Criticized Trump
Trump is going after Republicans who criticize him.
A pro-Trump billionaire is financing the effort to unseat Arizona Senator Jeff Flake.
Robert Mercer, who spent millions in support of Donald Trump in 2016, has donated $300,000 to a super PAC that supports Kelli Ward one of Jeff Flake’s primary opponents.
According to Politico which first reported the spend, “It’s the latest sign that Trump’s political machine is preparing to take on Flake, whose persistent attacks have angered the president. The White House has met with Ward and two other Republicans who are mulling primary challenges to the Arizona senator, state Treasurer Jeff DeWit and former state GOP Chairman Robert Graham.”
Flake is one of the few Republican senators to publically criticize Donald Trump.
Polls show Jeff Flake is very unpopular in Arizona. However, Republican primary voters have very positive feelings towards Donald Trump.
