Astounding Number Of Americans Believe Trump Acted Illegally or Unethically With Russia
A new Gallup poll has some remarkable findings when it comes to Donald Trump and Russia.
According to the poll, 25 percent of Americans believe Trump has done something illegal with Russia.
But that’s not it. Another 37 percent of Americans believed that if Trump didn’t act illegally, he did something unethical when it comes to Russia.
Together that means that means that 62 percent of Americans believe their president has done something illegal or unethical relating to the nation’s chief foreign advisory.
According to Gallup, 35 percent say that Trump did nothing wrong, which lines up with Trump’s overall job approval rating. The 35 percent who say Trump did nothing wrong is largely made up of Republicans, with 69 percent of Republicans or Republican leaners saying Trump did nothing wrong.
And among Democrats and Democrat leaners, 92 percent believe Trump did something illegal or unethical with Russia.
And for those who say that the average American is not concerned about Russia, Gallup has some findings that contradict that claim – at least in part.
According to the poll, 73 percent of Americans are following the news about possible Trump campaign-Russia ties very closely, with 33 percent saying they are following it very closely and 40 percent saying they are following the news somewhat closely.
As you can see from the graphic below, the closer people are following the Russia story, the more likely they are to believe that Trump did something illegal or unethical.
For those following the story very closely, 62 percent say Trump acted unethically or illegally. And among those who are not following the story closely, 50 percent say Trump did something illegal or unethical.
