A Giant Percentage Of Republicans Don’t Care About Democracy: Poll
This is what it feels like when democracies die.
Ever wonder how your fellow Americans feel about democracy? Well, a new poll has some very troubling information for you.
More than half of Republicans would be willing to delay the 2020 election if Donald Trump proposed the idea.
Yes, that is right. A majority of Republicans in this country are open to discarding the most basic and profound institution of our democracy – elections.
The poll, which was fielded by The Washington Post, asked if people would be okay with delaying the 2020 election if Trump proposed it to make sure only eligible American citizens can vote.
The poll found that 52 percent of Republicans would be willing to delay the 2020 election if Trump proposed it.
And if both Trump and Congressional Republicans proposed it then 56 percent of Republicans would be willing to delay the election.
Republicans confirm they are living in an alternate reality
Oh, just in case you weren’t already totally dismayed, the poll also found that 47 percent of Republicans believe Trump won the popular vote.
Additionally, 68 percent of Republicans now believe Trump’s insane lie that millions of illegal immigrants voted in the 2016 election. Let’s take that again. More than two-thirds of Republicans in this country believe in a gigantic crime by millions of people that never happened.
But don’t worry, it’s not like Donald Trump has set up a voter fraud to investigate this pretend gigantic crime… oh wait.
About the poll: The Washington Post poll was conducted from June 5-20 among 1,325 Americans.
