BREAKING: Trump’s Business Advisory And Manufacturing Councils Just Disbanded
Donald Trump’s economic councils just vaporized.
Donald Trump’s Business Advisory Council has disbanded, CNBC is reporting.
The panel of business leaders was advising Donald Trump on economic policy, but after Trump’s statements equating white supremacists with those who were protesting white supremacists, the advisory group has fallen apart.
CNBC’s report notes that according to a member of the panel Trump’s Strategic and Policy Forum broke apart Wednesday.
The disbanding of the business council follows a surge of CEO resignations from Trump’s Manufacturing Advisory Council.
Manufacturing council disbands as well
The manufacturing council – which consists of corporate and labor leaders focused on boosting U.S. manufacturing jobs – has seen seven resignations since Monday.
In a separate announcement, the CEOs of the 3M and Campbell Soup announced their resignations Wednesday. Their announcements come on the heels of announcements from Merck CEO Kenneth Frazier, Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich, Scott Paul of the Alliance for American Manufacturing and the President of the AFL CIO union who all stepped down in the past three days.
Once it became clear to Trump that the councils were falling apart, he tweeted preemptively to say it was his decision to disband them. However, reporting indicates that the disbanding was the decision of business leaders, not Trump’s.
Rather than putting pressure on the businesspeople of the Manufacturing Council & Strategy & Policy Forum, I am ending both. Thank you all!
