Tina Fey returned to SNL on Thursday night for “Weekend Update: Summer Edition.” And she had some important advice for frustrated Americans living in the Trump era.
The former “Weekend Update” anchor told Americans to buy a sheet cake and begged “good, sane Americans” not to take part in any additional rallies.
“It broke my heart to see these evil forces descend upon Charlottesville,” said Fey.
Fey graduated from Charlottesville’s University of Virginia in 1992 and wore her alma mater’s sweat-shirt during the appearance.
“And then our president…comes out and says he condemns violence on many sides, on many sides, and I’m feeling sick because I’ve seen Raiders of the Lost Ark, and I wasn’t confused by it. No, Nazis are always bad.”
“I would urge people this Saturday, instead of participating in the screaming matches and potential violence, find a local business you support, order a cake with an American flag on it, and, um, just eat it, Colin,” she continued.
“Next time, when you see a bunch of white boys dressed in polo shirts, screaming about taking our country back and you want to scream, ‘It’s not our country, we stole it!’…Don’t yell it at the Klan, Colin, yell it into the cake… Let these morons scream into the empty air.”
Fey also had some words for Paul Ryan. “I say, where’s Paul Ryan in all this? You’re supposed to be the cool, young congressman, but you don’t know how to (at) somebody on Twitter,” she said. “‘Racism is bad, @realDonaldTrump,’ you p—y.”
