Fareed Zakaria Blasts Elites For Not Properly Condemning Trump’s Racism
Zakaria hits political elites for “mealy-mouthed” response to Trump.

CNN’s Fareed Zakaria had very harsh words for the nation’s elite on Sunday for he called a “mealy-mouthed” reaction to Donald Trump’s remarks on Charlottesville.
Zakaria said that while most of the country reacted “swiftly and strongly” to Trump’s comments that “both sides” were to blame for violence at the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Republican politicians and other elites have not done their job in properly condemning Trump’s hateful language.
“The delayed, qualified and often mealy-mouthed reaction of many in America’s leadership class tell a disturbing story about the country’s elites and the reason we are living in an age of populist rebellion,” Zakaria said.
Zakaria went on to knock Republicans who have “suddenly gone mute” on Trump’s comments and not condemning the leader of their party.
And when it comes to those business leaders who have resigned from Trump’s advisory boards, “some jumped ship when it was clear there was really no alternative,” Zakaria said.
