Trump Approval Rating At Record Low: Poll
Trump has already set the record for lowest approval rating for a first-year president.
Donald Trump started his presidency by setting the record for the least popular president ever inaugurated.
And now, seven months into his presidency, Trump’s unpopularity continues to set records.
This week Donald Trump’s job approval rating dipped back to a record low of 34 percent in the Gallup daily tracking poll.
President Obama never reached a 34 percent approval rating. In fact, Obama never fell below 40 percent in the Gallup poll.
George W. Bush only reached that level in his second term after the catastrophes of the Iraq War and his bungled response to Hurricane Katrina.
As the Associated Press notes, Trump has “already passed the mark for the lowest approval rating for a first-year president.”
“Since Gallup began tracking presidential approval, four presidents — Harry Truman, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter and George H.W. Bush — spent significant time below 40 percent during their first four years. Clinton’s and Ronald Reagan’s forays below the 40 percent mark also came during their first terms. But neither stayed there long,” AP went on to say.
About the poll: Gallup tracks daily the percentage of Americans who approve or disapprove of the job Donald Trump is doing as president. Daily results are based on telephone interviews with approximately 1,500 national adults; Margin of error is ±3 percentage points.
