SEIU Planning To Spend Millions In Midwest To Win Back Seats From Republicans
Service Employees International Union is preparing to go to war.
One of the largest unions in the nation is planning to spend tens of millions of dollars in a 2018 effort to take back seats from Republicans in the Midwest, The New York Times is reporting.
SEUI, which has 2 million members, will spend aggressively to get pro-union candidates elected.
Republicans have made significant gains in the Midwest in the last few cycles and as a result, a handful of states have enacted so-called right to work legislation.
According to The New York Times, “The effort will primarily aim at the traditionally industrial states of the Midwest and Rust Belt, where labor’s political influence has come under a furious assault from conservative forces in recent decades, culminating in President Trump’s electoral sweep of the traditionally Democratic states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.”
