CBO Just Confirmed That Trump Is Making Obamacare More Expensive
Trump sabotage of Obamacare causing higher premiums for Americans.
The Congressional Budget Office just confirmed what many had already suspected – Donald Trump’s intentional mismanagement and sabotage are driving up the cost of premiums for Americans.
It has been regularly pointed out that the Trump administration is attempting to sabotage Obamacare. Despite mountains of evidence to the contrary, Trump and Republicans regularly say that Obamacare is collapsing.
So what do you do when you keep lying about Obamacare’s collapse but Obamacare keeps not collapsing? Well, you sabotage it in an effort to make it collapse.
But that sabotage is having very real consequences for Americans who rely on Obamacare.
As the CBO points out in a new report, the Trump administration’s management of Obamacare is causing higher premiums and lower enrollment in the individual market.
The nonpartisan scorekeeper estimates that average premiums in the health law marketplaces will be about 15 percent higher next year “largely because of short-term market uncertainty — in particular, insurers’ uncertainty about whether federal funding for certain subsidies that are currently available will continue to be provided.”
The CBO report also notes that there will be less competition in the Obamacare marketplaces next year which it attributes to that same uncertainty created by the Trump administration.
Additionally, the Congressional Budget Office notes that next years Obamacare enrollments will be “limited” because of the increases in premiums.
Finally, the CBO says that the Trump administrations “announced reductions in federal advertising, outreach, and other enrollment efforts” are additional factors that will decrease Obamacare sign-ups next year compared to what it would have otherwise been.
