Trump Is Furious Over Tillerson Calling Him A ‘Moron’
Trump fumed around the White House for two hours Wednesday after finding out Tillerson called him a ‘moron.’
Donald Trump learned that his secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, called him a “moron” at the same time the world did – when NBC News published the story at 6 AM on Wednesday morning.
According to NBC News, “For the next two hours the president fumed inside the White House, venting to Kelly, officials said. He left for Las Vegas shortly after 8 a.m., 20 minutes behind schedule.”
Trump’s chief of staff was forced to cancel plans to join the president on the trip to Las Vegas and stay in Washington to do damage control.
Denial is an admission
After a hastily called meeting with Chief of Staff John Kelly and Defense Secretary Mattis, Tillerson rushed to make a public statement.
But reporters and the public were shocked when Tillerson didn’t deny calling Trump a “moron.”
As NBC notes, “The secretary’s refusal to deny that he had called the president a ‘moron’ in his opening statement and in his responses to questions from reporters stoked Trump’s anger and widened the rift between the two men, officials said.”
