Trump’s Approval Falls Lowest Point Of Presidency: Poll
More signs that Trump’s base is eroding.
Trump’s approval rating is down 5 points in just one month.
Another poll confirms that Donald Trump’s approval rating is at the lowest point of his presidency.
According to the new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, only 38 percent of Americans approve of President Trump’s job performance.
At the same time, 58 percent disapprove of Donald Trump’s performance as president.
As NBC points out, this marks the lowest approval rating of any president at this point in his tenure.
During the same time in their presidencies, Trump’s predecessors had significantly higher approval ratings.
Former President George W. Bush had 88 percent approval at this point in his presidency (shortly after the 9/11 attacks), former President Barack Obama had 51 percent and former President Bill Clinton had 47 percent.
According to NBC News, “Trump’s previous low in approval in the national NBC/WSJ poll was 39 percent back in May.”
“This is his worst showing of his young presidency so far,” said pollster Fred Yang who conducted this survey.
More confirmation that Trump’s base is eroding
Several polls in the last few months have captured the fact that while Trump still enjoys strong support from his base, there are signs that his base are eroding.
Trump’s approval rating among independents dropped dramatically from 41 percent in September to 34 percent just one month later in the new NBC poll.
Among white voters, Trump’s approval is down from 51 percent to 47 percent.
And whites without a college degree, Trump’s approval is down from 58 percent a month ago to 51 percent in the new NBC poll.
About the poll: The NBC/WSJ poll was conducted October 23-26 among 900 adults and has an overall margin of error of 3.3 percentage points.
