Half The Country Thinks Trump Committed A Crime With Russia: Poll
49 percent of respondents think Trump likely committed a crime during the 2016 election.
According to the new Washington Post/ABC News poll, 49 percent of Americans believe President Trump likely committed a crime during the 2016 election.
The poll also found very strong support for Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation with 58 percent saying they support it.
As expected support for Muller’s investigation largely breaks along party lines with 78 percent of Democrats, 56% of independents and 38 percent of Republicans supporting the investigation.
The poll also found that 68 percent of Americans approved of Mueller’s indictment against Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort and Rick Gates.
A majority, 51 percent, also don’t believe Donald Trump is cooperating with the Mueller investigation.
As ABC notes, “49 percent of Americans polled think it’s likely that Trump committed a crime in connection with possible Russian attempts to influence the election. Slightly fewer, 44 percent, call this unlikely.”
About the poll: This ABC News/Washington Post poll was conducted by landline and cellular telephone Oct. 30 through Nov. 1, 2017, in English and Spanish, among a random national sample of 714 adults. Results have a margin of sampling error of 4 points, including the design effect.
